Hey guys, let’s talk about Montelo cast also known as singular. This is an oral medication, as you can see here from the packaging for 10 milligram tablets, the therapeutic class of Montelo cast is an allergy and cough remedy, and also a Bronco dilator. And this is how it works in the body. The pharmacologic class of Monte or the chemical effect is a Leco Trane, antagonist. So Monte works by disrupting the effects of Luco tryings, which affect air away edema, smooth muscle constriction and cellular activity. We use Monte cast for the prevention and also to treat asthma, manage seasonal allergies, and also for the prevention of exercise induced Bronco constriction with this medication, sometimes we can see side effects that include headache, dizziness, irritability, and sometimes a rash.
Some of the nursing considerations for Montelo are be sure to assess your patient’s respiratory status. You want to monitor your patient’s liver function tests while on Monte, teach your patient that Montelo does not treat acute asthma attacks. And although rare Monte cast can lead to suicidal ideations and behaviors. So guys, to add on this last statement, there have been some post-marketing reports that Monte has created. Some changes, some behavior in patients taking it. These can include things like abnormal dreams, aggressive behavior, sleep disturbances in the already mentioned suicidal behaviors. So guys, if your patient is taking this medication and they have any of these issues, you might want to consider Monte as the reason in for these issues, that’s it for Mo or singular now go out and be your best self today. And as always happy nursing.
