Hey guys! In this lesson I’m going to help you to know what a portfolio is and what to include in it.
What is a job portfolio anyways? It is simply a compilation of information that contains all your skills and accomplishments that pertain to the job you want!
So why should you have a portfolio? Portfolios show that you are organized and interested in the job. You can use your portfolio as a guide during the interview. Next, let’s explore what you should have in the portfolio.
So the front of your portfolio should have a cover letter that will act as an introduction. Use this part to showcase yourself! talk about your strengths and make it fun! Your resume should be next. Check out the lesson on resumes and cover letters for details on those. The next components are any recommendations that were written about you along with your references. You may also want to include any projects that you’ve completed. Include the purpose, action, and results of the project in a simple and clear way. Lastly, you may want to include copies of your transcripts, degrees, certificates, and licenses.
Alright, now let’s review the key points about portfolios. A portfolio is a compilation of information about you. The purpose of a portfolio is to stay organized during an interview and to showcase yourself! The components include a cover letter, resume, references, and projects you’ve completed. You may also include copies of your transcripts, degrees, certifications, and nursing license.
Okay guys, now get out there and put your portfolio together! Now go out and be your best self today, and as always, happy nursing!
