Overview

When making your lessons, you should think about who the audience is, and what they should learn.

General

1. What are the lesson objectives?
   1. Think about what the student should learn in the lesson
   2. Think “moral of the story”
2. Who is your audience?
   1. Nursing students learn differently than pre-nursing students
   2. Think about at what level they should be learning the material, what they’re being prepped for, and the content you need to deliver
3. What should they be able to do at the end of the lesson?
   1. Begin with Bloom’s Taxonomy
      1. Remember
      2. Understand
      3. Apply
      4. Analyze
      5. Evaluate
      6. Create
4. What are the absolutes?
   1. Go back to CCMM
   2. Only include the absolutely necessary content
   3. Does the lesson fall apart if it’s not taught?
      1. Then include it!
   4. Is it taught somewhere else on NURSING.com?
      1. Then send them there!

Assessment

Now that you understand our pedagogy, let’s implement this into your first lesson. In a document, begin to organize your thoughts about what the goals are of your first lesson. What are the absolute things they need to learn about? What should they absolutely know at the end and what should they apply? Share this document with your coach and work through the absolutes together.
