Breath sounds by “Normal” location
1. Bronchial → over the trachea
  1. Heard on exhalation
  2. Harsh
  3. If heard in another area other than trachea = not normal
2. Bronchovesicular → Right and left bronchi
  1. Heard equal on right and left on inhalation and exhalation
  2. Softer than bronchial
  3. If heard in another area other than bronchi = not normal
3. Vesicular → Lung lobes
  1. On inspiration
  2. If heard in another area other than lung lobes = not normal
Pneumonia
1. Aerated tissue turns semi solid → continuous noise
  1. Bronchial breath sounds over the lungs
    1. Abnormal because bronchial breath sounds are normal at the trachea
  2. Dull percussion
  3. Increased fremitus
2. Rhonchi
  1. Heard on inspiration and exhalation
  2. Rumbling
