Outline
Overview
Sometimes you have to go back to explain, and then go forward to teach new concepts!
General
- If you say something that the student would ask “why?”
- Then rewind, explain your point or refresh, and speed back up to where you left off
- If, when you are creating a lesson, you think a student might ask “why?”
- Then pause to either explain it in 10 seconds, or
- Identify how important it is, or
- Refer them to another area of learning in our system
- Or all of the above
- Be flexible
- If you need to do a refresher, bounce back and do it!
- Get excited to refresh with them
- Sometimes students feel intimidated by having to ask what something is – get excited to review with them, and then jump right back into it!
Assessment
As you work through your slides and presentation, think of your delivery. Think of important concepts that you need to discuss. In your Google Slides, in your transcripts or notes, include important key notes to cover, and then think about how you may need to go back and explain. Integrate all of the concepts of CCMM into your lesson, think about your linchpin, and then work to connect concepts within your presentation as you prepare and rehearse. Work with your mentor to nail down the important concepts and then practice before you record.
