Part of our pedagogy focuses on the most meaningful information. We want to make sure we meet the needs of our user and be efficient in how we deliver our message.

General

1. Be succinct
   1. Make it easy to understand
   2. Prepare adequately
   3. Make the point and keep going!
2. Avoid repetition
   1. Repetition in learning is good…
      1. …only if the USER does it
   2. Repeating points fade away
3. Aim for the 7-7-7 Rule
   1. Aim for 7 main points to make during a lesson
      1. These include intro and recaps
   2. Aim for 7 slides for your lesson
   3. Aim for 7-minute lessons
      1. Some lessons CANNOT be taught in 7 minutes, and that’s ok.
      2. Avoid lessons over 12 minutes – consider splitting those out
         1. Talk to your coach about how to make it work!

Review & Lesson Integration

Now that you’ve gone through the majority of the lesson building, incorporate the teaching strategies and methods into your lesson. Rehearse it from start to finish and time it! How well did it flow? Did you find yourself getting hung up on any concept or slides? Use what you’ve learned in this lesson to nail down your presentation and then work with your coach to finalize any outstanding items in your lesson right before you record it!
