General

1. Differentiating Pre-renal vs. Renal
   1. Normal amount of salt in urine = 20-200 –> If there is too much salt in urine their could be kidney problems because they aren’t filtering properly
   2. BUN:Creatinine ratio (normal 10:1-20:1)
   3. Lasix/Fluid Challenge–> assess the output
2. Pre-renal
   1. Urinary sodium less than 20
   2. 20:1 BUN:Creatinine ration
   3. Lasix/Fluid challenge
      1. More urine after an hour
3. Renal
   1. Urinary sodium 40-100
   2. 10:1 BUN:Creatinine ratio
   3. Lasix/Fluid challenge
      1. No more urine after an hour
