Outline

Nursing Points

General

  1. 12 Lead EKG: V1-V6
    1. Anterior-septal-lateral wall leads
    2.  Placement
      1. (From the right to left side of heart) -> V1, V2, V3, V4, V5, V6
    3. Electrical current through heart
      1. First travels through left bundle (V5, V6)
        1. Small Q wave normal (electrical current traveling away from +)
      2. Across anterior wall towards V4, V3, V2, V1
      3. Appearance of R wave in V1, V2, V3 = anterior septal wall exists
        1. No R wave = infarcted (no ST elevation) or infarcting (ST elevation)
