- Locations are heart where the heart is directing the blood
- Aortic -> right
- Pulmonic -> left
- Mitral -> midclavicular left
- Tricuspid -> bottom sternum
- Systolic murmurs -> during contraction
- Sound = s1 -> swoosh -> s2
- Aortic stenosis
- Hear = harsh, loud, rough
- Caused by calcification of valves and rheumatic fever
- Mitral insufficiency
- Hear = loud, blow
- Caused by MI, rheumatic heart disease
- Diastolic murmurs -> during filling
- Sound = s1 -> s2 -> swoosh
- Mitral stenosis
- Hear = rumble
- Caused by calcification
- Aortic insufficiency
- Hear = blow
- Caused by systemic HTN and rheumatic heart disease
