Overview
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Discuss and implement appropriate triage methods, critical incident management, and ethical/legal issues including following EMTALA.
- Discuss ways to prioritize assessments when patients arrive in the Emergency Department to ensure the best possible outcomes.
- Identify the priorities for assessment and nursing management of major disease processes and conditions for each major body system.
- Discuss the medical management and anticipated treatment priorities for the same conditions.
Emergency Nursing
In the specialty of Emergency Nursing, nurses must think quickly and know how to manage emergent situations. This course will help any nurse entering the field of Emergency Medicine to know the priorities for some of the most common or pervasive conditions or disease processes for each of the major body systems. You’ll also learn major Emergency Nursing considerations such as triage, legal & ethical issues, and how to prioritize assessments.
