Oxyhemoglobin Dissociation Curve
The Oxyhemoglobin Dissociation Curve shows how various conditions can increase or decrease Hgb’s affinity for oxygen. A shift to the right means affinity has decreased and more O2 is released off of Hgb. A shift to the left means affinity has increased and the Hgb is holding onto the O2 and not letting it release to the tissues.
