Central Lines
You take report and the off going nurse tells you the patient has the following lines:
- Dialysis shunt
- CVC
- Arterial Line
- Mediport
(Yes, this is a very sick ICU patient. . . )
You walk in the room, where are you going to be looking for each of the lines? And what the heck is each line used for?
Central lines, shunts, catheters, etc . . . can be confusing.
This cheatsheet is designed to demystify that a bit for you.
