The highest systolic blood pressure I have ever seen was 250 . . . !

No joke.

The lowest SBP I have ever seen (that we were able to revive) was in the high teens!

Again, no joke.

The SBP of 250 was a patient who suffered an ischemic stroke . . . the body was doing everything it could to try to perfuse the brain . . . with no luck.

Did you know that we actually try to keep SBP around 200 for ischemic stroke patients?

Why?  The physiological issue with these patients is a lack of blood flow to the cerebrum caused by blockage.  Elevated SBP helps to maintain blood flow.

Today’s cheatsheet covers normal blood pressure ranges in a healthy individual.
