ABG
Course Details
The Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) Course takes the topic of Acid-Base Balance and breaks it down into manageable chunks of information. In this course you will learn the basics of ABGs and how to interpret them quickly and easily!
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to discuss the pathophysiology of acid-base balance and interpret an arterial blood gas. You will also be able to identify and manage all four primary acid-base imbalances; respiratory acidosis, respiratory alkalosis, metabolic acidosis, and metabolic alkalosis. You will be able to explain oxygenation parameters on an ABG and discuss lactic acid and base excess to determine a patient’s acid-base imbalances.
Understanding ABG’s are super important in nursing as they are used routinely in diagnosis, indicate severity of disease, and help assess treatment.
