Overview

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

1. Discuss and implement appropriate triage methods, critical incident management, and ethical/legal issues including following EMTALA.
2. Discuss ways to prioritize assessments when patients arrive in the Emergency Department to ensure the best possible outcomes.
3. Identify the priorities for assessment and nursing management of major disease processes and conditions for each major body system.
4. Discuss the medical management and anticipated treatment priorities for the same conditions.
